Katrien

Katrien’s editorial formula can best be described as the female counterpart of Donald Duck: especially for girls, but not necessarily out of bounds for boys. Most of the magazine is comic strips, alternated with short editorial items, all aimed at cheerful and uncomplicated fun. The main characters are Katrien and her nieces. The comics have a different tone from those in Donald Duck: friendlier, lighter, less adventurous, and less cynical. The choice of story subjects is also different: relationships are most important, particularly the relationship between Katrien and Donald and between Katrien and her nieces. But the readers also see Katrien as a strong, independent woman with a job, who can take care of herself very well!
